How Sweden compares
About this indicator
This indicator shows salaries of primary teachers after 15 years of experience, as set out in each country’s official pay scales for education staff. Amounts are gross: they are before personal income tax, include the employee’s own contributions (for example to pensions or health care), and exclude employer contributions to social security and pensions.
Figures are expressed in current international dollars built with purchasing power parity (PPP) for private consumption. One international dollar is intended to represent the same purchasing power in each country as one U.S. dollar does in the United States.
The 15-year point is a common mid-career reference on national salary schedules. Where pay depends on qualification, the underlying OECD series uses the most prevalent qualification at that stage of their career.
